Nestled in the Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil of the Jhelum District, the Khewra Salt Mine holds a special place as Pakistan's largest and the world's second-largest salt mine. It's conveniently located around 160 km (100 miles) away from both Islamabad and Lahore, and you can get there by taking the M2 motorway and turning off about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the Lilla interchange along the Lilla road leading to Pind Dadan Khan.

What makes this place really cool is its famous pink Khewra salt. People from all over come to see it, with about 250,000 visitors showing up each year. And there's more to it than just salt – the mine has become a hotspot for tourists. Back in 2007, they even set up a special part of the mine with 20 beds where people with breathing problems, like asthma, can try out salt therapy.

When you visit the mine, you get to ride on the Khewra Salt Mines Railway, which takes you on a journey through different pools of salty water. One of the coolest things there is the Badshahi Masjid. It's a mosque that was actually built inside the tunnels of the mine using salt bricks of different colors. They built it around fifty years ago, and it's quite a sight to see.

But the mine isn't just about salt. There are some amazing carvings and models inside. You can see a replica of Minar-e-Pakistan, and even the name of Muhammad written in beautiful Urdu script using crystals. They've also made models of the Great Wall of China and the Mall Road of Murree.

They didn't stop there – in 2003, they worked on making the mine even better for visitors. They added more cool stuff and made it a more enjoyable experience.

Inside the mine, you'll find some really tall places like the Assembly Hall, which reaches a height of 75 meters (245 feet). One super interesting thing is the Pul-Saraat, a salt bridge that goes over a 25-meter-deep (80-foot-deep) pond of brine. And don't miss the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), where the salt crystals have a delicate pink color. And guess what? There's even a café where you can grab a bite to eat while you're down there.
